Bijnor has kick-started the preparation of its Urban River Management Plan (URMP) under Phase-I of Namami Gange’s World Bank-funded project for developing URMPs across 60 Ganga-basin cities.
A six-member team from NIUA and LEA Associates visited Bijnor to review ongoing operational initiatives related to riverbank protection and pollution abatement in the city. The visit was followed by the organisation of the first Multi-Stakeholder Working Group (MSWG), chaired by District Magistrate Smt. Jasjit Kaur, IAS, and co-chaired by Sh. Vikas Singh, Executive Officer.
The meeting was also graced by Municipal Chairperson Smt. Indira Singh, who assured the full support and cooperation of the city administration.
