Strengthening RCA’s Academic Partnership – MoU Signing

About the Event

On 11 December 2025, the River Cities Alliance (RCA) marked a significant milestone by signing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with eight distinguished academic institutions, further strengthening its academic network. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to advancing river-sensitive urban development through joint research, capacity-building programmes, monitoring and evaluation studies, and the integration of river-centric perspectives into academic learning and pedagogy.

RCA’s new academic partners include Amity University (Noida), Apeejay Institute of Technology (Greater Noida), IIT Roorkee, Miranda House (University of Delhi), O.P. Jindal Global University (Sonipat), SVNIT (Surat), SCET (Surat), and SPA Delhi. The MoU signing ceremony was held at the NIUA office in New Delhi, attended by the Director, NIUA, and faculty representatives from the partner institutions. Six institutions participated in person, while two joined virtually.

During the event, representatives shared their areas of interest and outlined opportunities for collaboration, highlighting the growing need for river-centric learning and research for future generations. The partnership is expected to significantly strengthen RCA’s initiatives by supporting Strategic Thematic Expert Groups, establishing Regional River Chairs, and fostering research and innovation that contribute to sustainable and river-sensitive urban development.
