Academic Engagement with O.P. Jindal: Guest Lecture and Workshop

About the Event

The River Cities Alliance Secretariat has been steadfast in its mission to embed river-sensitive thinking into the next generation of urban professionals. As outlined in the Urban River Management Framework, citizen engagement is a core principle for ensuring the long-term success and sustainability of river management efforts. One of the key ways the RCA Secretariat is advancing this goal is through active and structured collaboration with academic institutions across the country.

Following a faculty roundtable at IIT Delhi in July 2025 and structured planning sessions with each partner institution, the RCA Secretariat developed a concrete action plan for academic engagement through the semester. Between August and December 2025, a series of guest lectures and workshops on Urban River Management was organised for partner institutions — including SPA Bhopal, Amity University (Noida), O.P. Jindal University (Sonipat), and Miranda House, Delhi University — delivered by subject experts and practitioners from the Secretariat and NIUA.

At Miranda House, Delhi University, sessions similarly combined an introduction to urban river systems with a focus on the intersection of ecology, governance, and community engagement, led by Ms. Ishleen Kaur, Senior Environment Specialist, NIUA — continuing the series’ commitment to equipping students with the awareness, institutional understanding, and human-centred thinking that sustainable river management demands.
