West Bengal: Training Programme on the Preparation of an Urban River Management Plan (URMP)

About the Event
A two-day orientation training was organised on the preparation of Urban River Management Plans (URMP) for five West Bengal cities. The event saw active participation from West Bengal SPMG, municipal officials from Siliguri, Nabadwip, Howrah, Durgapur, and Asansol, representatives from Kolkata Port Trust, SUDA, MED, and the State Department of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs and Jadavpur University (premier state institute for preparation of URMP in WB).
The training facilitated insightful discussions on key aspects of river management, including floodplain demarcation, pollution abatement, river-centric tourism, economic activities, river waste management, and drain rejuvenation.
