 
													 
													 
													 
													A dedicated training programme was organised for all relevant stakeholders in Bihar (state and city officials in Bihar, and the consultants engaged) on the end-to-end preparation of an Urban River Management Plan (URMP). 32 participants, including senior officers from Bhagalpur, Buxer, Chapra, Munger, Muzaffarpur, and Gaya and relevant state departments were present for the workshop.
Sh. Nalin Srivastava (DDG-NMCG), Sh. Rajiv Ranjan Mishra (Former DG, NMCG), and Sh. Dheeraj Joshi (Director, NMCG) was present for the opening session and set the stage by emphasising the importance of the URMPs and their significance for the larger vision of river-sensitive cities.
Through lectures and group exercises, in the sessions, participants learnt about the various components of the URMP framework, the process to be followed in developing the URMP, the data and information needed to develop the URMP baseline, the alternatives to be explored when the required data is not available for baselining, various stakeholders that must be engaged with during the preparation of the URMP, developing GIS-based thematic maps, and much more.
