The River Cities Alliance Secretariat conducted a unique and impactful 50-minute webinar on 4th September, 2025, demonstrating that focused, time-bound conversations can yield significant results. The session drew strong interest, engaging over 117 participants from across India, including officers from several member cities of the River Cities Alliance, such as Ranchi, Rajmahal, Adityapur, Gorakhpur, Bijnor, Howrah, Asansol, Chhapra, Nabadwip, and others. Led by sector experts Sh. Anuj Malhotra (AVP, NMDPL; Former GM P&UD, Srinagar Smart City Limited) and Syed Suhaib Naqshbandi (Urban Designer, SSCL), the webinar facilitated rich discussions anchored in examples from Jhelum’s riverfront development. The event concluded successfully, reinforcing the value of efficient, knowledge-driven dialogue. Key takeaways included: riverfronts thrive when designed with lateral and longitudinal urban continuity; large projects are incremental and benefit from starting small while thinking big; community involvement fosters smoother, sustainable change; and even neglected backyards can be transformed into landmark spaces with the right approach.
