The Department of Environmental Architecture at MGM’s Jawaharlal Nehru Engineering College, Aurangabad conducted a study for the Sukhna river of Aurangabad. Students of Masters in Environmental Architecture did a research project on sustainable planning proposals for the Sukhna River under the course. The context of the study aligned with the Urban River Management Plan, hence an engagement with academia was arranged and a workshop was conducted with the students of B Arch and M Arch (Environmental Architecture) in hybrid mode (online+offline) covering the basic understanding of Management of urban rivers and Urban River Management Plan. The session conducted by the NIUA team had an overwhelming response and helped Master students to orient themselves to URMP principles. Also, B arch students took a good interest in the overall understanding of NIUA as well as URMP. Post the workshop, JNEC Master students of Environmental
Architecture also presented their study of the Sukhna river to NIUA’s team working on URMP-Aurangabad and discussed their understanding of the river and key issues that need to be addressed through their interventions as Environmental architects.
